Sesame tuna steak with chilli soy noodles
When sent me this delicious looking tuna steak I knew straight away how I was going to cook it – rolled in sesame seeds served with vegetable chilli soy noodles. This only takes about 15 mins to cook, and is packed full of flavour. Save to recreate.
Ingredients (2 people):
2 tuna steaks
3 tbsp sesame seeds
250g cooked fine egg noodles
Handful bean sprouts
1 red pepper sliced thinly
3 spring onions sliced diagonally
1cm piece of ginger minced
2 cloves garlic, minced
1tsp sesame oil
1tbsp veg oil for frying
2tsp dark soy sauce
1tsp light soy sauce
0.5tsp shaoxing rice wine
2 tsp chilli oil to serve ( is the best)
1. Rub your tuna in 1/2tbsp veg oil, a pinch of salt and pepper then sprinkle on both sides with sesame seeds. Push them into the fish so they stick.
2. In a large frying pan, fry the noodles on a medium heat in the remainder of the veg oil for 2-3 mins each side or until slightly brown and crispy. Remove from the pan.
3. Heat your same pan up to high and fry your tuna for 2.5 mins each side. Remove onto a chopping board and cover with foil. Add to the pan your white bits of the spring onions, garlic and ginger to the pan for 2 mins, stirring so they don’t burn. Add your peppers and bean sprouts and cook for another minute. Whilst that’s cooking, mix together your sesame oil, salt, sugar, soy sauces, rice wine in a bowl. Add your noodles back into the pan and the sauce you have just mixed, and cook for another minute until coated and golden. Stir through the chilli oil and serve with the tuna ontop and spring onions.
